Posted By Robert S Woods I was talking to an insurance liability surveyor yesterday and he asked if our hot/hazardous work permits were compliant with the warranties in our insurance policies. On looking into this the insurance warranties say that we should perform a fire check two hours after hot work is complete. Our permit states one hour. He said we wouldn’t get paid out if there were a fire, as we hadn’t complied with the warranties. We supply permits to clients and are now adding a disclaimer stating that they should check that permits are compliant with insurance warranties.

Posted By Robert K Lewis Interesting one this Robert as I feel pretty sure that the LPC code to which the Ass. of Brit Insurers have placed their imprimateur requires the 1 hour as a minimum figure in construction work. Clearly we are going to need to check such things more closely. Bob
