Posted By A Olsen Can anyone in NE Scotland recommend a good training provider for practical manual handling techniques? I'm totally depressed at how boring most of the courses on offer are and I'm going to scream if one more person offers to show us how to lift a box. We need interesting, entertaining and educational sessions which are focussed on the practical application of correct movement & posture. Oh, and we don't lift boxes so we need someone who can apply the techniques to other situations. Any suggestions?

Posted By Peter McClenaghan Last year I attended a seminar. Nicola Hunter of RehabWorks gave a presentation based on the need to make manual handling training relevant. I don't know where they are based- but they may be worth investigating.

Posted By Eric PD Mr/Mrs/ms olsen an option open to you would be to do the manual handling trainers course yourself. You can then be competant enough to do the training for your staff and lift all manner of objects.

Posted By Simon Heesom Try ROSPA, I attended their MHO Instructors course in scotland. They acknowledge that people pick up more than boxes, and cover a variety of techniques for lifting operations in the real world. they even have a course for the lifting of people (care/nursing homes).
