Posted By Simon Carrier Depending on what you are doing you could, as intimated in the title, use an airfed mask with the air supplied through a portable compressor. You would need to have various filters inline so that the air is suitable for breathing, there is a BS for Breathing air. The mask should also do away with the need for goggles.

Posted By Renny Thomson JSP do a powered filter respirator that is incorporated into a baseball style cap with visor. Our Building Control inspectors are going to be using these when insecting roff spaces. IIRC they also incorporate a bump cap to protect againstthe scalp injuries off the trusses.

Posted By Frank Hallett What do you believe that you're providing the protection for Joe? And at what airborne concentrations? This is important 'cos the answers will then lead you down a specific path to the device or devices that provide the best level of protection. BS 4275 - Selection & Use of RPE is an excellent document, as is HS[G] 53. Don't forget that whatever you provide, there will be a need to consider the need to comply with a whole range of things such as individual face-fit testing, respiratory/lung-function tests, training, hygiene, routine testing & bunch of other stuff. email me direct if you want more specifics.
