I have been asked to get costs for an external provider to assist with trying to improve our sickness absence.
I am sure you have all heard of these companies where the employee rings them and is put in contact with an OH nurse, who asks them what is wrong with them, their treatment etc. The idea is that if staff understand that they will get asked these questions on day 1 they are less likely to swing the lead (not that I am suggesting any of our loyal staff do!)
Has anyone used these services and if so how much do they cost per annum. It may be that it is done on the number of employees so to assist you, we have 10,000.
Also if anyone has any info on how these operate in practice that would also be useful.

Liz, I have experience of a similar Sickness Monitoring system, when a staff member reports ill to a central switchboard number within the organisation it generates requirements on managers to contact the member of staff to check welfare requirements/ Occ Health referal etc. The system monitors progress/history, concluding with an on line return to work interview.
If you take the view that it is there to support staff, it is a great system, and I have not heard any adverse comments about it. I have used it from both perpectives and commend it!
If you require further details, email me direct and I will put you in contact with the person who manages the system

Andrew - interested in that on-line back to work interview process. Was that a system you bought in, or designed yourself? Any chance of a bit more info?
