Sorry - a working at height question!
I have a mobile loading ramp ( the type fork lift trucks drive up and down ).
On occasion drivers will walk up the ramp or get off of their trucks at the top of the ramp to hand load some items.
All of the available loading ramps come without any handrails.
Should I be fitting handrails?

Posted By Danny Swygart We carry out similar activities and when the ramps were due to be replaced I advised that handrails should be provided.

Posted By Danny Swygart There is normally a substantial low rail (about knee high) along the sides of these ramps to prevent vehicles from going off the edge.
When persons are loading materials into the containers by hand from the top of the ramp however there is a risk of a fall liable to cause injury, hence the recommendation for handrails at the sides of the top of the ramp.

Posted By MichaelM If there is a risk of falling from the ramp has a work at height assessment been done and if so did it recommend handrails?
