I have received (not meaning to advertise though!) the latest Croner briefing and the front page is, understandably, about the fire safety laws reform.
Does anyone have an opinion of the abolishing of the fire certificates? My own opinion, without knowing all the facts at this stage (sounds like I read something in a tabloid!), is that some firms will take advantage of the lack of certificate and use excuses like 'will try to get it right for next time' or 'am in the middle of bringing up the standard' or ignore the problem completely.
Does anyone know where I can find the full details of this reform? A quick type into the search engine has produced not a lot.
Thanks

You can visit the Fire Risk SG page on the IOSH SG pages - you will see the topic there but unfortunately the link to the Cabinet Office for the condoc is down - probably due to the security alert. But have a look at the Deputy Prime Minister's website at:

It's gunna be a nightmare.
The major companies and organisations will continue as now, on the whole, taking their fire safety obligations seriously
The smaller concerns (where perhaps risk is lower anyway) will continue to do nothing & plead ignorant
But it's the middle sized risks that worry me the most. They'll know about RRO but wont do anyting until pushed (as is the case with the current workplace regs)
The result: A gradual reduction in fire safety standards, resulting in a series of fire disasters, which will result in a public inquiry which will result in new laws.
Self Regulation- The mother of all oxymorons

Thanks for the responses. The link works (unlike the whole website!) and I was able to get into the 'weeds' - thanks.
As for opinions, looks like I am not alone!!
