Look up and to the left, folks - see "international activities" and check out the faq's. This is more than a chat site!

Hiya
Not really sure if it is any help but they should have implemented the six pack the same as us and all the other bits of EU directives that we have had over the years.
Therefore they should have risk assessments etc.
Have you tried the EU safety site
http://europe.osha.eu.int/
Like I said not sure if it is much use.

Michelle,
Follow this link, http://www.baua.de/eindex.htm to the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (FIOSH).

Michelle,
you will find a brief abstract (in english) of the german OHS system on this site :
http://de.osha.eu.int/sy...hes_arbeitsschutzsystem/
As for OHS-management systems - they´re not very common in germany.
There may be some fifty certficate holders for the OHSAS 18001, some others will stick to a regional system like "OHRIS" (in bavaria).
A few comply with the SCC ("safety certficate for contractors") specification, but this is mostly targeted on the oil & petrochem industry.
German OHS-regulation is now broadly based upon eu-directives, but due to the dualistic OHS-system there are loads of additional "Berufsgenossenschaft"-rules.
I am based over here in germany and besides some "serious" safety work I spend quiet a time implementing and auditing ...
So if you feel this could help you any further - contact me.

Thanks for your helpful replies folks, especially Dirk.
Lots of "homework" over the weekend to read up on what to expect, but should be an interesting visit.
