Posted By Andy P I have to give a presentation on H&S to employees (office based environment) with the main aim of motivating them to take care of their own H&S and promote understanding of the positive reasons why the company takes H&S so seriously. Any ideas about how to make the topic interesting and relevant to them, how to capture their interest and motivate them to adopt a positive attitude towards H&S?

Posted By Ron Hunter Make it directly relevant to them and their workplace - try a bit of desktop interaction with http://www.ergoergo.info/. The consequences of a trip or slip are potentially the same in an office environment as a construction site. Good housekeeping by staff will allow better/safer access to others including contractors and especially the cleaners! Encourage all staff to be involved (by rota?) in completing a monthly/quarterly (whatever) office safety inspection checklist (there are plenty on the net). Helps 'buy-in' and everyone being involved in mutual h&s. Local management must be primed and willing to act on good suggestions and non-conformances, otherwise your best efforts will fall flat. Get the local manager to come along to tell his/her troops why h&s is important to him/her?
