Posted By garyh Has anyone got a workable procedure for the above on a higher tier COMAH site? I say workable because I introduced one which I based on a procedure used by a (formerly!) very large Chemical Company which has proven itself "unworkable". Previously we were not under CIMAH, and had only a rudimentary "mod" procedure. I therefore need a simple but workable procedure. Can anyone help me?

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Gary There are a variety of viable methods of managing change, well supported by research and participant evidence. It's risky making a non-specific reply to your question because there's no indication of what you perceive to be 'barriers' to effective change and, even more critically, who 'owns' them. Once you specify those, you'll have a basis for deciding the next stage.

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Chapter 5 of 'Change in Organisations' (P Clarkson, Whurr, 1995) provides a workable framework that is very applicable to implementing COMAH. They also explain 'why it is very important not to get sucked into the confusion' that is common in organsiational changes of a challenging kind. What they offer is reasonably simple without being so simplistic that it sets you, or management, up to fail.
