Some time back (I think about Feb this year) Robert Black posted a thread about banning cream cakes at work (bought in on birthdays etc) because of the food poisoning risk. At the time I, and quite a few others laughed and thought it a wind up. However, just to unpdate you on recent events ... 12 of our senior managers went off sick yesterday with vomiting etc. All 12 had a fresh cream cake the previous day, bought in for someones birthday
Still, give me cream cake and I'll take the risk.

Lumpy,
For some reason your tale reminds me of the chapter of Animal Farm where the pigs banned the consumption of alcohol following a particularly bad session.
I trust your disaster emergency plan worked properly and there was no business interruption.

If you take 12 Senior managers out of a workforce of 350, the remaining individuals soon start realising what those people did for a living ...... eat cream cakes, drink coffee, hold meetings etc.

In this day and age of healthy living - shouldn't we be bringing in fresh fruit or something ........
still given the choice of a chocolate eclair or a banana, the balance of the scales tips the wrong (or right!!) way

My company has fresh fruit delivered to some of our offices every other day ~ nice perk
No one ever seems to eat the apples though

Lorraine,
They must be sending you those tasteless French Golden Disgustings.
Ask for good old fashioned tasty Cox's, Discovery or Worcester Permains!!

3,000 people die each year in traffic accidents - does the same company ban travel? of course not, because the company would fold.
There's a level to be reached and small treats banned because people get ill some times is a high price to office morale ... chocolate bars [and I stand by to be shouted down, here] have no food poisoning risks, do they?

I know there had to be a good reason to eat chocolate rather than apples

While the 12 senior managers were off work did you see any increase in company productivity?
