Posted By pschu_00 For LPG container handling in terminal, would appreciate if you can share ideas on the emergency procedure? e.g. - Frequency for the LPG gas detection; - actions taken for the gas detection readings; - LEL and UEL of LPG... Regards, PS Chu

Posted By peter gotch Hi PS If you are talking about tanker unloading, you might find the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators [SIGTTO] website helpful. Lots of Codes of Practice etc. As regards LELs and UELs, in the case of the most common forms of LPG, the limits are 1.5% to 8.5% gas in air for butane, and 2.1% to 9.5% for propane. Regards, Peter

Posted By Messy Call me old fashioned, but if you are handling, storing or using large amounts LPG containers (as implied by your request), don't you think you should seek direct professional help, rather than using a forum such as this? (no offense to those who regularly ontribute here!) The risks invloved with even a medium size LPG site are huge and the HSE (and others) have produced reams of info on best practise and legislation. I was once involved with a fire originating in a LPG cylinder storage site in NW London which caused extensive damage to approx 60 properties and ended with an expensive trial, as the (well known French) Petroleum company were operating the site illegally (including without planning permission!!). So to operate such a site without professional audited H&S advice is madness
