Hello again,
i work for a multinational company with many office around europe. I am trying to find out what level of safety each site employs and how serious they take it. Does anybody have a survey that i can borrow to get this information back ?
I need to be able to highlight where needs to be tackled.
thanks and regards,
philip

Search for "climate survey tool" on the HSE website. Should work in a pan-european context.

Sorry,
don't have what yopur looking for, but would have thought that this would be the ideal excuse for you to have extended site visits to assess for your self the level of safety.
After all the written answers you get back may not actually be the truth....
Seriously a personel visit by yourself would make it very clear on whether a site took safety seriously - if you don't want to do it I volenteer for the job (seriously)....

Hi Philip
I too am in the same position as you.
But rather than work I have started this for an assignment. I have sent you an email with a working progress of my own version that I will adjust to suit my needs.
From feedback I get the feeling that the majority of employers are very wary of such things and many will not bother participating in such projects.
I hear the words of caution and am being made aware of the pitfalls.
What surprises me or should I say: - What I want to know?
1. What benefits have people found out from such surveys and was they worth the effort.
I ask this question because as a former typical employee I feel I would have found the opportunity give feedback or even gripe a little would be very beneficial to myself at least.
Is this not the purpose: - get an opinion from employees as to how they see H&S.
I know there are other ways i.e. safety reps, committee meetings etc, but in my own past, even these present brick wall feeling syndrome.
Maybe this is an area that has just not been tackled head on by most.
One thing I would like to point out is the fact that if too much is given in the survey then maybe too much would be expected by shop-floor staff. If a company does a survey and does not have at least potential plans for remedial action to be launched then there will be problems.
Aim to keep it small, simple and have a good idea of plans to improve things before you start.
I am planning on doing mine in sections i.e. training etc
Would also welcome more opiions on this subject
Jason
