Posted By Paul Craythorne Just stumbled across a health and safety consultancy web site where the owner/proprietor is displaying a rather unusual set of letters after his name. For those of you who are interested the designatory letters provided were AIIRSM, NEBOSH, IOSH. I know the first set are legitimate but I wonder how it is possible to use NEBOSH and IOSH? I can't reveal the web site on here because it will automatically give away the name of the individual. Regards, Paul Craythorne

Posted By Heather Collins Paul A google search turns it up pretty quickly anyway. I think it's been discussed on here before. Judging by the presentation on the website, along with the spelling and grammar the words touch and bargepole come quickly to mind. Heather

Posted By Paul Craythorne Heather, I was also unimpressed by the content of the site and agree with your sentiments with regard to floating vessels and long cylindrical objects. Paul

Posted By John Watson As a Sales Director for a Consultancy it never ceases to amaze (and dissapoint) me the lack of quality that others offer. Having found the site it would appear the "consultant" has the NEBOSH Gen Cert. A good entry level qual, but certainly not anything like enough to make you "qualified". Of course when you compare ours (and others) day rates then of course we look expensive, and sadly to many companies buy services of companies like this. Someone once said you can always pay to much for something, but too not pay enough runs the risk of paying twice. If you are looking for Consulants I would suggest you aks the following: 1. Are you qualified. I would not employ anyone less than MIOSH, and ideally RSP. 2. Are you insured 3. Are you experienced in our sector 4. Can you give me some references (your Mum/Dad/Dog dont count) Regards John

Posted By Jasonjg I am laughing but crying at the same time. Obviously not only cheeses fellow competitors off but also bear in mind us small few who Pay through the nose for our courses. Suffer the nights of revision with partners ready to kill them. (Probably half of you lot anyway lol) Beg for any Jobs to get experience. Oh well maybe one day I will have my own site. (Probably porn if I fail in Dec) Cheers for bringing this up Paul (snarl) (Jason now very depressed and can no longer face life in study sections)

Posted By Dave Wilson "I DON'T believe it!!!!" said in the voice of Victor Meldrew!!!!!!! That said it is not illegal as this part of our industry is not regulated. I am absolutley gobsmakced that this can be done, but on the other hand seen the business gap and went for it! No wonder we get a bad name as safety professionals!!

Posted By Steve Hickey Sorry Everyone but I think you may be looking at an old homemade website of mine. I will agree looking back about 4 years ago when it was produced it is rather tacky. It was my first and last attempt at doing one. I was trying to make a break into Safety after being a Safety Rep for some years. I will say that I have now gained MIOSH status as well as other qualifications in Safety. It has been a long hard slog and I’ve paid for all the qualifications I have myself and all the while trying to justify that to my wife and young family on a line operators wage. That means working all day and having to go to college straight from work until late at night and studying all the hours god sends. I know form this website that I am not alone in this. I hope this clears everything up for you all and if anyone has any ideas on how to get the website off I would appreciate the help. I also think my spelling has improved thanks to the spellchecker on my computer. Warmest Regards Steve Hickey

Posted By Steve Hickey Hi Nick Thanks for the response, yes I am, I have been lucky and fill my week by working for just a only couple of companies one of which is Multi - National. I am very passionate about safety after working on the other side of the fence on a production line for 20 years and having the scars to prove it. I then decided to try to change the world, as I think most of us thought we were going to do when we first got into safety. To all those people who have helped me I say a big thank you, I enjoy every working day. I have asked for help on this forum as have others and I believe I have had some help from you in the past Nick. That’s what’s great about the brotherhood of Safety. I don’t call myself a safety professional I still have a way to go before that, again thanks to everyone who helped me along the way. Regards Steve

Posted By Trudy Clements I totally agree with the comments on this post from a professional point of view it is a long hard slog to get MIOSH, RSP!!! And to run a business without others trying to ruin it for you by making false allegations about you! But I know one person who has responded to this post who himself has only got NEBOSH Cert, so do not think he has the right to criticize others!!!! I don't think there are any spelling mistakes in this post, but no doubt I will be told if there are! Trudy

Posted By Adam Jackson Stopping paying the website hosting bill usually does the trick. :) Alternatively, FTP to the site (I'm assuming as you put the site there you have the details) and just delete the 'index' file on the server and that should kill it as browsers won't know where to start. Then again, connected like that you can just delete all the html files.

Posted By Steve Hickey Thanks for the advice on getting rid of the website everyone who helped. Someone once said to me. Believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see. Maybe there are a few people on this thread who should learn form this. Steve
