Posted By Philip Purcell hello again, working from a 90% office environment and 10% manufacturing , we have a lot of women on site. I am wondering on where we should stand in relation to our staff brining kids from 6mts to 5-6 years on site.It is normally done while somebody is on leave. Is this a H&S issue/Insurance issue? Has anybody out there encountered this issue and how did you solve it ? regards, philip

Posted By MichaelM Philip I've encountered it to a small degree. Picture this, one child gets hurt, litigation, Liability Insurance doesn't cover you as they shouldn't have been on the premises. Also if we assess the risk to employees and others not in the employ of the company, and there are regular occurrences of children being on site, are they covered in the assessment. I would advise against the practise and raise the idea of a company creche if it is such a big problem. Michael

Posted By joedukeries DEFINATELY A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE, I THOROUGH RISK ASSESSMENT SHOULD BE COMPILED BY A COMPETENT PERSON TO ESTABLISH A SAFE SYSTEM FOR THE YOUNG PERSONS, THIS WILL ESTABLISH THE OUTCOME OF WHAT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN, E.G NO CHILDREN ON THE WORK PREMISES, AS FOR THE INSURANCE ISSUE, IM NOT SURE, BUT I THINK A PERMIT MAY BE REQUIRED, I WOULD CERTAINLY SPEAK TO YOUR INSURERS AS IT IS BEST BE SAFE THAN SORRY, IF A INCIDENT DID OCCUR. REGARDS JOE
