Posted By Sue Powell I am checking the competency of various contractors, one of whom is a member of Group. They have provided a "Group" policy which includes a Statement of Intent signed by the Group Chairman. They do have an organisation chart for their own company and my feeling is that to meet HSG65 they should at least have their own statement of intent signed by their own MD, if not their own policy. Or maybe just their own Statement of Intent adopting the group's policy? Has anybody come across this one before?

Posted By Richard Chalkley I work for a company which is part of a multinational group. We have 'Top Level' documents signed by the CEO which is what we issue when asked what our companies EHS policy is. In addition we have a UK Policy signed by the appropriate level of management which is backed up with a site safety manual. I would be wary of a contractor who could not show that the global policy was locally endorsed and implemented. Richard.

Posted By Frank Hallett Go with Richard on this one. A "Group" policy is just that; there must be a clear demonstartion that the Group Policy is effectively translated into reality by the local part of the organisation. Frank Hallett

Posted By Derek Holt Would expect to see that the 'Group policy' is reflected in lower tier documents relating to the management system at the local organisation level. This is generally the case in most multinational groups that I have encountered.
