Posted By Nick Butler Do any forum users have experience of reduced insurance premiums due to fitting of a fire suppression, (sprinkler) system. Thank you, Nick

Posted By Frank Hallett Yes Nick. It's still the principal means by which occupiers of premises can bring down their Fire Ins Premiums. The degree of discount appears to have very little common logic across the board however. The Fire Insurers as an industry have still yet to understand the degree of impact that sensible compliance with the FP[W] Regs - or the RRFSO next year - should have upon fire risk and respond accordingly. Basically, the majority appear to be stuck in a '60s & '70s hardware timewarp - especially the USA based companies. If you need anything further, email me direct and I'll try to help. Frank Hallett

Posted By Mark Jarman Nick, Some insurers may waive the excess applicable to a fire claim if a sprinkler system is fitted. This may be easier to quantify than premium reduction which, as Frank has already alluded to, is an imprecise science!

Posted By Barry Cooper We have installed sprinklers throughout our mill. This has resulted in a reduction in our insurance premium, so the insurer says. I think what they mean is we didn't get an increase this year. It does reduce the Maximum Possible Loss, which means a great deal.
