Hi Mark,
Er, know the main regulations inside out, i.e. HASAW act, management regs, welfare regs need to be know pretty in depth. As well as the 6 pack regs too.
You need to know your legal stuff too, the differences between the different courts, criminal and civil cases.
That should do for starters:)

It is hard work, i'm not sure how you're doing yours, I did mine in two weeks with an exam at the end of it. I was horrified to say the least! Thankfully the training provider I did mine through was excellent. It's also surprising how much you take in during the two weeks, it's more than you think!

RMS have a good study guide for the gen cert quite comprehensive and more. Although check with your course provider first as they may supply something similar with the course.
I don't have direct contact details but try googling them they should come up.
Good luck

I'd recommend Allan St John Holt's "Principles of Health & safety at Work". Nice and clear.

Hi Mark
The 'bible' that I would go for is the"Introduction to Health & Safety at Work" handbook for the NEBOSH general certificate, by Phil Huges and Ed Ferrett. The other book is the 'Managers Guide to Helath & Safety at Work by Jeremy Stranks.- The second one just read, but don't try to learn it all -
Good luck

you can buy a list of all course materials which should be contained within your learning course either by eail or on cd. As I did mine distance learning over a year thorugh a local college (I didn't attend many lessons) I found this a useful source of info.
I canont email you course materials however I can divulge the name I guess as a training provider - RRC - do electronnic revision aids and notes
on a further note I just got my results. Passed with a credit, not quite a distinction but more than a pass. I dont think the Gen Cert is difficult, if you know the basics of each section that is covered in course materials, can remember a few dates and bits of legislation, you should do fine.
