Posted By Alan G Hi Could anyone advise me on a course I could send my senior mangers on to give them a better understanding on understanding of risks and what the implications are if a company fails to compile with risk assessments and make adequate changes to the work place/equipment. We work in the motor trade if this is any help. Thanks in advance for any help Alan

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Alan In the absence of a summary TNA indicating the learning objectives of the course you have in mind, I wonder whether you might best achieve your purpose by commissioning a bespoke course on Safety Culture & Climate for them.

Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney You may find the four day 'Managing Safely' by IOSH just what you need, it tends to cover all that I suspect you Managers may require. It is an excellent comprehensive course and is provided my many places in the UK; it also allows an exam with some open book work included, cost varies so I will not suggest here what it might be, it does vary so worth shopping around. Posted By Raymond Rapp Alan I tend to agree with Kieran. I am not keen on the 'one size fits all' approach and I think there is a opportunity to design a bespoke course based on your company/industry. I think too many issues get can overlooked such as the safety/organisational culture of the company. You could for example, put together a small team to discuss the h&s training requirements made up from h&s advisor, operational manager, TU Rep etc. Ideally, they would come up with a list, such as legislation, risk management, accident investigation, safety culture etc. Don't be afraid of going the 'extra mile' because it will be worth it if health and safety is to be taken seriously. Posted By Stuart Hufton Would definitely recommend “Managing Safely”. I have used this for managers for many years and it always has the right response, usually a real eye opener. You can also sell it to them as an externally accredited nationally recognised qualification. The one-day Directing Safely is OK but a bit superficial and not appropriate if they don’t already have a good level of understanding. If you are delivering it in house rather than an open course most providers will tailor it to incorporate your own companies procedures. I can recommend some providers if you want. Stuart
