Posted By Grant Dixon Hello all! I currently work as a Planning Supervisor as per CDM Regs and my appraisal is now due. My health & safety proffesssional development has taken me through the Nebosh general route to IOSH corporate membership via NVQ's 3 & 4 in occupational health & safety. Here is my dilemma: Initially, I hadn't set my sights much further than corporate membership and so now I find myself with many options but without much direction. Has anyone out there been on any interesting courses that can benefit me proffessionally at this particular junction? Has anyone been in my particular situation & would like to share their experience with me? Kind regards

Posted By Bob Haley Having completed the NVQ4 I assume that you are now MIOSH. The next step in your career would seem to be what many professionals are looking towards and that is to become chartered. The NVQ 5 normally provides more than enough CPD points to progress to CMIOSH. The Post Graduate course at BCS College (details are in the SHP or at www.bcscollege.com) provides this for candidates. Phone Chris for a chat on 0115 927 4921 if that will be helpful. If your plan is to develop your construction skills then perhaps you should be looking at a higher academic course in construction. I am also Chartered with the CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) and there are progressive career paths by part time study availble nationally and you could talk to the CIOB (who are based in Englemere, Ascot) or your local College. Hope this is helpful Bob Haley BCS College
