Posted By Steve Starbuck Have followed the Tanker access thread. We have a specific problem with flatbeds when drivers stand on the load to sheet up. They are not our employees and do not see a problem. We have a d.o.c. on our premises and we do have a problem. One load was 4m above ground, (yes we stopped it). We use curtain siders 95% of the time but some customers specifiy flat beds. Best practice?

See http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg395.pdf You'll note that there is no specific reference to handrails at all times etc. just to take care. I think we have to accept that there are times when people need to work near drops and a few years ago thsi woudl have been quite acceptable as it was less than 6ft There have been plenty of comments about the work at height regs so more ridicule is not necessary at this point
