Posted By mark foster To protect lone workers who might injure themselves and be rendered unconscious or immobile I am looking for an alarm that is worn by the worker which emits an audible alarm if no movement is detected after a set period of time – looking around on google has so far failed to identify any potential suppliers – can anybody help?

Posted By Richard Hinckley Mark, there are effectively 2 types of Lone Worker Alarms available, one that send an alarm to be picked up by persons working within the same area (activated on movement) this is what the fire brigade use as standard issue. The other is a quite technical piece of apparatus that can send signals to remote control rooms / base stations etc... If you could confirm that scenario where you are to provide this protection I could offer you some more information of where to go for this equipment.

Posted By Richard Hinckley Mark, this is the peice of equipment you are looking for: DSX MKII - AUTOMATIC DISTRESS SIGNAL UNIT The Diktron DSX alarm is specifically designed for users of breathing apparatus, And others working in potentially hazardous environments. The DSX unit will automatically emit a 96-dBA alarm should the wearer be rendered unconscious or trapped. A new concept in Distress Signal design, with many options to suit individual needs, the unit is built with the wearer in mind and will accommodate fixing to all B.A. sets. Diktrons Details www.diktron.com Hope that helps.....
