What is the correct way to dipose of spent and suspect fireworks after a display?
How long would you leave the collection of the spent fireworks?
When do you return to a firework which has failed, to dose in water?
Any ideas many thanks

I believe that you should look to DSEAR. I used to know someone who dealt with fireworks and displays and he was often heard to quote that DSEAR regs had to be followed.

There is a very helpful booklet from the HSE, HSG124, 'Giving your own firework display', which tells you, among a lot of other very useful information, what to do with misfires.

Time really depends on the devices / fireworks being used. We always allow for a 30 min cooling off period after the display before starting to clear up and deal with misfires.
Smaller candles / cakes can be flooded with water using a water extinguisher or garden sprayer (from a safe distance using ppe)wrapped and returned to the manufacturer for disposal (using same carridge method as for new, unfired devices) Mines and shells should be immersed in water. Mortars should ideally be filled with water if they still contain the shell, blind shells which have lifted but not burst should also be immersed.
HSG 123 does contain some good info, the BPA or EIG will also be able to provide good advice.
Profesional operator training should include safety when dealing with misfires etc.
