A colleague of mine has to advise a school with a reception class child using violence against staff and furniture. He's already knocked out one teacher. Any ideas other than standard violence and aggression risk assessments, systems of work and training? PLEASE no facetious comments...

The Local Education Authority should have specialist staff such as Education Pyschologist and Behaviour Support teams. I would suggest that involving them would be a good starting point.

Sounds like a food allergy to me, possibly eggs, frequently linked with schizophrenia also.....but could be environmental toxins.
This child could be causing others to miss school due to fear, and disruption.
The Special needs advisor needs to be involved, and a support worker allocated to this child. Probably statemented. There are plenty of arrangements in place nationally already to manage this problem, enormous safety implications clearly but initial approach needs to be from a specialist educational expert.
hope this helps. Regards

Other than use of specialist LA staff support, speak to parents and get them involved actively at the school
