Posted By Deborah Burkmar Hi, Would anyone be kind enough to send me an example of a risk assessment for gas powered forklift trucks? I also need to prepare a safe system of work for replacing empty cylinders on the machine with full ones. Any assistance regarding layout and what I should include would be much appreciated! Deborah

Posted By Chris Pope I remember getting distracted and pulling away without securing the bottle - it dropped off the back and got sort of dragged along - I don't care to imagine what could have happened. Other than that, apart from sort of confined space gas leaks and the prospect of the truck being on fire, they are really quite safe

Posted By John Lewis Other items worth bearing in mind are the risk of residues of gas causing freeze burns; wear suitable gloves. Making sure that the yellow caps are put back on the fillers so that water does not get in, it freezes when refilling and can jam the valve open or shut. I only saw this once in eight years. Depending on the delivery hose you may need to have an earth strap if filling from a bulk tank. Suitable and sufficient training for the users. If you have got a bulk tank get the supplier to give you all the data on it in case someone asks; it is a pressure vessel after all. As a previous respondent said, they are pretty safe in the big scheme of things. Regards John
