Posted By Robert K Lewis Interesting thought though Is there such a thing as the safe use of harnesses? It was not so long ago that someone died during the laboratory suspension tests if my memory is correct. I realise that sometimes they are the last resort option or have to be used because they are lower risk than falling out of the cherry picker, but that is because they are moved whilst the operative is in the basket in some unpredictable ways. It seems that we continue to use them increasingly to resolve some relatively simple work at height issues, such as working off stepladders at an atrium edge. Seriously though on the point of the presentation I would tend to start here, and make it an open discussion on the pros and cons, so that people realise it is not a good option to choose unless they are really stuck for a solution. I will try and dig out some of the howlers I have on camera like the operative at the top of a stepladder 2m from the floor with his 4m long landyard carefully clipped on! Bob
