Curious if any members have had to undertake avian influenza risk assessment, as well as establish risk management protocols for employees and public relating to this. In process of putting something together with Institute of Zoology at work and although there is plenty of data (WHO, DEFRA etc.) much of it is neither quantitative or particular related to assessment. Would really be keen to hear from anyone who has already conducted one of these.

I havnt looked at this as yet -but its on my list of things to do, I am assisting a poulry processing plant at present (1 day per week) looking at the other zoonoses ( amongst other things) -see my previous thread chicken juice! This is more of an urgent assessment need i feel at present than avian flu as its not here as yet...unless you can tell me otherwise!. I will monitor this thread with interest to see if any one else can assist.

Andrew,
We arent doing a risk assessment as such, but are working on an impact analysis on the basis of best predictions available.
Were then looking at subsequent protocols to deal with this, not only for our staff and operational activities, but to advise care providers nationwide. Happy to discuss this with anyone else who is giving it consideration.
