I am having difficulty in clarifying wether CCTV operators come under the DSE regulations. I would welcome any input from someone in a similar position. i believe they do.

How about no - , there will be low risk issues such as posture, work loads etc

'Screens whose main use is to show television or film pictures are not' included; DSE Regs Guidance para 6. CCTV is TV (it's the two letters at the end that give it away....) so I would say they don't apply,

Are operators spending most of their shift sitting monitoring the screens??
Do they sit at a console for extended periods, other than cctv monitoring??
Is there a system of work which stipulates "time on" and "time off"??
If the above is the case, then DSE regs seem to apply.

Hi, If the workers are attending or sitting at a screen over a long period you will find that they do indeed come under the amended DSE regulations. The following example from my LA may help you to decide. we have security/concierge staff on duty at some of our multi storey flats/housing complexes. Under the old regs they were not covered... under the new amended regs they are. Thus DSE assessments, eye tests and the supply of glasses are now available to them.
