Posted By MancMan Has anyone got a "written procedure" for the control of contractors on site that they would be willing to let me see ( save me reinventing the wheel) i.e. procedure for ensuring the competency of contractors, their compliance with legislation, RA's and site procedure etc etc. Anything would be of a great help and a start point . Thanks in anticipation

Posted By Red Ones So you are looking for a vetting procedure? You could start with something like SafeContractor as a starting point. This covers the main points, but is not site specific.

Posted By Ron Hunter Vetting of contractors general and project specific measures for health and safety compliance must surely be carried out well before any contract let, i.e. well before any 'site' activity. CHAS is another scheme you could consider. Once on site, those in charge should be monitoring that the contractor is working in accordance with previously agreed method statements/ssow and the more general site safety rules. How you deal with breaches on site will be dependant on the nature and severity of the breach. On-site poor health & safety performance, and how the contractor acted to put matters right, should all carry back via a "360 degree" information gathering & assessment process, and judgement made as to whether contractors remain on your 'long lists' for future tenders. You could,I'm sure, map this all out on a simple process flow chart with allocated responsibilities.
