Posted By Alan Hoskins Hi everyone, Has anyone spotted a reference in the WAH Regs (Schedule 6 para 8) regarding 'mobile ladders' in that they shall be prevented from moving before being stepped on? Am I correct in thinking that a 'mobile' ladder is something like the steps on wheels that lock when you actually step onto them (see http://www.midlandladder...10060/info.php?p=7&pno=0 for an example) and not just ladders that can be carried around? ...or maybe they are... If the former, then the ones we have with wheels on (and currently being sold) would be illegal! There is no definition of a 'mobile' ladder in the Regs of course. …and what about kick stools? Many thanks Alan

Posted By David A Jones I suspect the answer is both - i.e. ladders that are not permanently fixed in one place - or is that just a portable ladder! In terms of 'normal' non-fixed ladders I would suggest this is about tying them in place etc. However, ladders with wheels are usually already inclined in the frame supporting the wheels, so are these steps (albeit with small treads) rather than than a ladder? Ultimately, the real issue is whether an unacceptable risk is present when you step onto the 'ladder'.
