Posted By Dee I am in the process of putting together a health surveillance system, the starting point for which is an occupational health risk assessment. I would be interested to hear from other forum users who have had experience of this and could pass on some handy hints and tips or potential pitfalls. This is concentrating mainly on our workshop area to begin with and my intention was to do this via tasks - i.e. using the forklift, mixing of chemicals, etc. Any comments or guidance would be welcomed. Thanks in advance Dee

Posted By Nigel Button Dee, Preparing himself for the firing squad NB asks: How is a OH risk assessment different from traditional risk assessments. Surely if traditional risk assessments do not reflect the OH risks arising from a task then it is not suitable and sufficient? Sorry Dee if this invariably hijacks your thread! NB

Posted By Dr. D. D. Radadiya Hi Dee, In one company I had done OH risk assessment position wise. Based on each position's job description and verifying that he is performing the same job as stated in job description all health hazards were assessed. Based on the OH assessment, the pre-employment screening, OH care included in work instructions, regular specific health checks (surveillance) and specific medical checks on termination of services(retirement) etc were developed.
