Is it just the gremlins on my PC or is everyone else's discussion forum obstructed by the two columns titled 'Section Links & Hot Topics?'

No you are not alone, something seems to have moved out of alignment since the new site first opened.

Click on tools - internet options and delete temporary internet files - then click on refresh and it seems to clear itself - unless of course Angela was already playing with it and my moves were coincidental!

The gremlins seem to have gone away without any assistance in deleting TI files. Perhaps Angela picked up on initial topic note and automatically exterminated them.

I got rid of the problem by changing the display mode from True Colour 800x600 to High Colour 800x600. (I dislike using the spelling 'color' and prefer 800x600 in order to be able to read text on the screen clearly)

Currently on my machine, the text on the chat forum index page still seems to be blocked by the right hand boxes, as is the box for the message text, though the chat forum pages seem to stop short of the boxes

- but when I next went to the site it had reverted to the partly obscured form again - although it's OK in the 'post response' frame. Could the web people sort this one out for us?

It now seems to be just the index page that has the partly obscured text due to the right-hand text boxes.

It is also the page that has the lower scroll button because it seems to be off centred and too large in some way.
Master of the web where are you

Hi,
Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. It affected this forum index page for those of you with a 800x600 setting. It's been tweaked now and you should find this page has returned to normal.
Best regards,
Angela Wheatcroft

If after doing everything listed above, you still get 'overlap' -----
It probably means that your Browser is an old version and needs updating [mine did - problem solved]]

Hi,
I’ve contacted Martin directly. Also, Alan's advice is spot on.
To help anyone else with this problem:
Old versions of browsers are not compatible with web standards and produce odd effects such as the overlapping views that some of you are getting. These versions were produced before the World Wide Web Consortium promoted the use of web standards. Our website conforms to web standards and works well with newer browsers because they all have a standard to follow.
If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) 5.0 or earlier I strongly recommend that you upgrade your browser to the latest version to avoid the problems e.g. PCs - Firefox, Netscape 7 and above, Opera 7 and above, IE 5.5 and above
Macs - Safari on Tiger operating systems, Firefox.
It's worth making the change.
Best regards,
Angela
