Posted By Jason McQueen I was thinking of my 'long term career goals' today and have always found the idea of safety within sporting stadia interesting. But I cant recall ever seeing a post advertised so a little in the dark as to how to best start planning to move in this direction (specialist courses etc).

Posted By Merv Newman You will find that "sports stadia" safety is a very large field to cover. Think of all the sports in which specialised knowledge and training is required before you can even start to analyse the related risks. just a few : swimming, football, rugby, archery, bowls, conkers, pole vault, hammer throwing ..; not to mention crowd safety, fire safety, food hygiene, COSHH, PUWER and so on. Not to be discouraging, but you are going to have to be very fit.

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Jason As 'safety' is often part of a manager's or physiotherapist's job in sports and leisure, you might best look for adverts in a magazine published by the professional societies serving this sector, e.g. Institute for Leisure and Recreation (from memory). Like the theatre world, there are lots of hazards in the sports and leisure sector with unfulfilled scope for recognising the value of managing them better.
