Posted By Philip McAleenan PJ, Everyone has responsibilities within the organisation. Ensure that they also have the authority (as well as the resources) to make the decisions necessary for the achievement of successful outcomes within their area of competence and sphere of influence Philip

Posted By Nigel Hammond This is an interesting question - a one-liner but the answers must be numerous! I find that getting people to set health & safety objectives - particular the Corporate objectives - within their management plans to be a real barrier. Other issues are bringing in agency staff and contractors who do not understand the management system. There often is not enough time or energy put in to getting them to understand the management system. A similar problem occurs with head office admin staff - who often regard themselves as outside the health & safety management system.

Posted By Ron Hunter A failure to recognise that the Organisation may have to change to allow a H&S management system to operate - trying to 'bolt on' h&s as opposed to integrating it.
