Posted By Richard S Scott Is there a need to have a written scheme and annual pressure testing of espresso type coffee machines within pubs & bars etc? Are they classed as boilers and or does the 0.5 bar limit apply. Thus not requiring inspection & test? Help much appreciated Rich

Posted By Brian Hagyard Richard. Its my understanding that if the unit uses steam then there is no minimum pressure requirement (check out page’s 6 & 9 paragraph 26 (a) which defines relevant fluid in the ACOP) so the Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 will apply and a scheme of examination is needed. I also think they are difficult to get particularly if it’s a small unit designed for the domestic market. I have come across some servicing companies and insurance companies who do it, but not many. Would be interested to hear from any others out there who have managed to get this type of equipment Examined in accordance with regulation 9. Brian
