Has anyone a view on providing medicals for shift workers. Currently, we provide medicals for all our staff on a three yearly basis.

We monitor all our staff on an annual basis. Even opticians do every second year. I would think that a three year interval is rather a long time during which any medical condition or symptoms which may be aggravated by working exposures could be exacerbated, but those risks would depend upon the type of business you were.

Where i worked previously did no monitoring and i am now acutely sensitive to various chemicals and solvents, hence i may be considered to be more cautious than absolutely necessary. However, annual checks have identified many conditions which would deteriorate in a 3 year cycle (diabetes, high blood pressure and angina).
