Hi Guy's,
A colleague of mine is getting involved with providing a purpose made (by a manufacturer of playground equipment) skate board ramp in a public space.
I understand that permissions have been granted from the local council and the actual positions are currently being agreed.
I believe my colleague has been involved with fundraising for the equipment, and is now being asked to provide a risk assessment for the structure. He has no experience in this field, but does undertake risk assessments for his daytime job.
Obviously there are numerous hazards that are there to be identified as part of the risk assessment process, and it is intended to display some warning signage around the structure.
With the above noted, can any body assist in higlighting the liabilities/responsibilities surrounding any harm that might be caused, and who would hold the risk assessment, once the structure is in place, including all of the controls highlighted in the assessment.
I am sure that any safety advisors that work with local councils will come across this all the time.
I suppose the bonkers conkers brigade will say that injuries are inevitable and foreseeable and the equipment should be fenced in and kept permanatly locked, but where is the fun in that.
Sorry for the lack of specific detials but please can anyone point me in the right direction, or even provide a sample risk assessment that they have done. The supplier cannot assist.
Thanks in advance for any comments.
Regards
Alan B

I sem to remember that RoSPA once issued some guidance on safe skateboarding so perhaps they could help.
