For overseas qualifications that are unknown to us we would firstly contact the UK NARIC who operate an international mapping service for qualifications. If the degree equated to a UK Bachelors or higher degree then we would check out the actual techncial content against our accreditation criteria which are based on the national occupational level 4 standards in OSH practice. However, having seen a number of American degrees, particularly those available over the internet then I would have to advise that it is unlikely that we will accept it. If you wish to practice in the States I would advise looking at the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) web-site. They do have lists of acceptable qualifications which will allow a person to sit their qualifying examinations.
