Posted By John Webster Body fluids per se are not necessarily hazardous to health. However, biological agents come under the scope of CoSHH, and so where there is a risk that the body fluid may contain harmful pathogens then CoSHH most definitely applies. This would also be the case if, for example, the body fluids contained cytotoxic drug residues etc. In practice, it is generally assumed that a blood borne virus may be present unless proven otherwise, and that faeces will harbour coliforms, which have lead to the adoption of "Universal Precautions" in healthcare.
