Posted By Paul Skelding If you work in the construction industry, you will know how hard it is to get the message across to certain individuals on site in respect of adopting safe system of work and appropriate PPE!! I’m looking at producing a “pocket type flip book” with pictures of operatives and their injuries sustained by not using correct methods; as pictures speak louder than words, especially when their first language is not English. If I observe an unsafe act on site, I always like to try and explain the shortfalls with the individuals on a one to one basis (constructively of course!), and usually they take the comments on board, but some as you will imagine, agree at the time and ten minutes later back to square one! These operatives are not always working under our control. Pictures will also help for the various toolbox talks I’m updating and producing to try and spice up the old versions currently being used. Or if you can direct me to any free websites, as most now want to make a charge! Thanks in anticipation

Posted By John Caboche Try: http://www.trauma.org/traumabank.html Lots there, please don't look if you're fainthearted, this is a serious medical resource site for those involved in the treatment of trauma such as paramedics. I have used the resources on this site in the past and they are very effective. John

Posted By Paul Skelding Thanks John - and to all so far who have sent some pictures, please feel free to send anymore you may have, they will certainly focus the minds of my advise group!! If you have any eye and hand injuries, has many of the sites I visit are adopting the glove and safety eyewear policy – this would help to get that message across. Also be useful if all construction sites had a standard for suitable gloves and eyewear (and yes - I know it’s all down to risk assessment, but how often is the method statement followed to the letter by all operatives?) Interested to know what views other H&S professionals think on this one? Thanks to all again
