Might have got this wrong, hence posting, but we are just looking at training a number of individuals to operate SPB and SL Mewps. Two routes appear to be available;
IPAF one day course with issue of IPAF certificate and Powered Access License
or
CPCS two day course with issue of additional plant to their card and requirement to log additional hours within 2 years prior to sign off.
Whilst I fully support the CSCS and CPCS schemes as does the company; for MEWP operation the IPAF route appears more suitable and cost effective. Note that additional training by the co is available on mewp selection risk assessments and harness training to back up the plant training SO from a compliance point of view have I missed anything ?
Does anyone have any practical experience of using either type of mewp training ?

Just talking yesterday with AMP Access who have the South West's biggest fleet of MEWPS and do training about this very subject. You could email their training manager who told me IPAF and CPCS in the form of CITB / CSCS have a letter of agreement. Do be aware of the IPAF need for a log or history when renewals are sought at 5 year intervals

In case this was intriguing any of the readers of the post I have an answer from the Major Contrators Group (MCG).
They indicate that they will not differentiate between an IPAF and CPCS licence holder for MEWP operations on any of their sites so the cheaper IPAF option has it for me on this occasion
