Posted By Nigel Hammond If you were a MIOSH RSP, What are you now putting on your business card? Are you just putting CMIOSH? or, are you also putting "Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner"? I'm not that clear what IOSH expects. I have asked them and the person I spoke to seem to agree with either writing 'chartered safety and health practitioner' or 'CSHP' after CMIOSH. However, looking at an earlier posting on this web site - it appears that the intention was that CMIOSH would incorporate the RSP status - so it would not be mentioned seperately. I'm confused!

Posted By Robert K Lewis 1) It is CMIOSH alone as the RSP is now defunct. 2) CSHP is not a recognised usage 3) I put the full title below my name and post-nomial. I am surprised that the person at the Grange was unclear! Bob

Posted By Nigel Hammond But, my letter from IOSH - the one that came with the new certificate says; "You can now start using your new 'letters', CMIOSH, as well as the formal title Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner."

Posted By Hazel Harvey Nigel, The correct format is Nigel Hammond CMIOSH Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner The full title should be on the line underneath your name not on the same line as the post-nominal letters.(If it appears on the same line here it is the way the responses are handled by this site and should not be followed. Any degrees you hold should be in front of the CMIOSH as should chartered designations from bodies older than IOSH so a CEng would be in front of the CMIOSH. The IOSH model is similar to that used by Chartered Accounts or Surveyors. The letters represent the membership of the body the title is a description of the profession. The RSP no longer exisits If you need any clarification please e-mail me directly. Posted By Paul Costelloe The correspondence I've had from IOSH says: Your old designatory letters, including membership of the Register of Safety Practitioners, will be replaced with new 'letters', and a new formal title. If you were previously FIOSH RSP or FIOSH, you will change to Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or CFIOSH. You will also be able to use the formal title 'Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner' If you were previously MIOSH RSP or MIOSH, you will change to Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or CMIOSH. You will also be able to use the formal title 'Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner'

Posted By J Knight At a recent specialist group meeting one of the speakers (mentioning no names) had his letters strung after his name on his first powerpoint slide and I was wondering why he was the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists for a while before I realised he meant Chartered Safety Practitioner (not even the right title George!); I too understood that we can only use the description Chartered Safety & Health Practitioner in full and on a line below our names and postnominals, John PS He did give a very good presentation though!
