Hi, I am currently doing the Diploma and have received the Unit A assignment regarding caribbean legislation. The only trouble is I am having great difficulty finding any, all the websites I have tried refer to all sorts of OSH stuff but there are no links to actual documents, does anyone have any info on caribbean legislation or places to find it?

Hiya John, i've got the same assignment and i have been searching every website for the same information without success. i've even got my daughters searching (as you can see from what they have posted on my behalf earlier)
I'm not getting to hung up on the Caribean theme though. i think the assignment is more directed at the differences in the prescriptive and goal setting approaches to legislation, although you will have to focus some time on the difference in cultures.
If i manage to come by anything i will post it in the forum for you.

Clearly you have not read and understood the assignment correctly.
It is nothing to do with Caribbean legislation, but about setting up in the UK. The assignment therefore wants you to explain the differences in prescriptive and goal setting legislation in the UK.
NEBOSH want to find out if you understand all about how regulations work, not how things work in other countries.

Thanks to those of you who have responded, I am grateful. Mr Buss, I realise that the question is asking about the differences between prescriptive and goal setting legislation, however as the person I am supposed to be writing the report for is the MD of a caribbean company, and presumably caribbean himself, I thought perhaps I might try to explain it to him in terms that he might understand, i.e. caribbean legislation which was the reason for my search and question in the beginning.

Clearly I didn't read and understand the assignment correctly either because, like you, I thought it might be useful to mention as examples some of the Caribbean legislation that we are supposed to be comparing our legislation with. What an idiot eh? Anyway what I found out was that a lot of the legislation in the caribbean is based on the old factories act and offices shops and railway premises act.
