Posted By ME As argon is a colourless, odourless gas that can cause asphyxiation, is there a detection device available (that indicates a leak before an employee passes out!)?

As Argon is an asphyxiant you don't test for it itself. You would test for a lack of oxygen.
Testing in this way warns you of the lack of oxygen (risk of passing out) or too much oxygen (risk of explosion).
All confined space gas monitors detect oxygen levels as standard, although these can normally be changed with a change of test cell.
