Posted By Richard Forster Dear colleagues. Does anybody know of some decent websites that show simple exercises that can be performed at work/ the workstation - nothing too strenuous of course?!

Posted By bigwhistle To help prevent WMSDs/WRULDs try doing some gentle stretches; just make sure people move around regularly rather than being in fixed positions.
As for getting fitter who remembers "The Bullworker" ?

Posted By Dave Adams MIOSH Try www.healthycomputing.com . This gives good information as to ergonomic issues concerning computer use as well as some exercises for stretching and relieving symptoms. No leotards necessary! Yet to find any for other occupations Dave

Posted By Nigel Hammond How about taking a lunch break and going to the Gym or a run - much better to get out than being stuck in the office!
Come back refreshed with a brain full of endorfins ready to do a far more productive afternoon of work.

Posted By John McFeely Hi Richard, I'm a firm believer that chasing the secretary around the office improves ones health and stamina. However don't forget to risk assess this activity first :-)

You also want to make sure that you wear appropriate PPE for 1. you get lucky and 2. incase you get caught :o)

Posted By Nigel Hammond Sorry, for my bad spelling. I meant endorphins not endorfins!
On a more serious note. I have come across lots of Display screen equipment exercises in various publications and courses. However, most people are too absorbed into their work or embarrassed to do them. For those that are still willing to try them, the novalty quickly wears off.
I think it is far better for employers to negotiate discount gym memberships and encourage their staff to take lunch breaks away from the workplace. At the same time I appreciate that not all jobs can have a full lunch break because of the nature of the work. Even then, a 10 minute walk could do wonders. Also, to ban the use of a lift except for people in wheelchairs and when loading.
