Posted By Kevin Costello One of our company vehicles is a 15 seater minibus the plan is to remove the rear seats to enable goods to be carried. A cage will be fitted to seperate passengers and goods. Currently the rear doors of the vehicle are marked as an emegency exit, after modification the doors will not be used for emegency egress. Will this modification comply with any vehicle legal requirements.

If your company install a cage at the rear of the minibus that is passenger carrying then they must maintain a means of escape through the rear door this is required under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 Sections 41 - 43 apply. Hope this helps, if not you could contact VOSA who will give the absolute answer as the vehicle is a 15 seater and requires a VOSA test.
