Posted By Peter Longworth We manufacture gas fires and use vacuum hoists for handling the boxed appliances, however thats no good to you. All I can suggest are things like sack trucks, two man lifts etc. Don't forget that many of the components are made from sheet metal and although manufacturers should do everything they can to keep edges burr free you will need suitable gloves when handling the un-boxed appliance.

Posted By lewes Are you talking about manual handling after removing a gas fire or just moving them in boxes ??

Posted By lewes Ooops, just re-read your thread.
As far as I know there isnt really anything suitable other than a sack barrow or other means to transport it to a trailer or van.
The main problem is tha amount of restrictions that you would have in the way. E.g. Furniture, door ways, steps, paths etc etc
Like the previous person said, you would want to make sure that there are no sharp edges and that any unnecessary bits are removed to aid the lift.
