However, I can not find any definitive guidelines for the minimum requirements for a fixed edge protection on a permanent mezzanine floor in a manufacturing environment. I am presuming that the same minimum standards apply, but I don't want to jump the gun and inform our design team that they need to re-make their edge protection if this is not the case! Thanks, AlB

However, to answer the specific question, the handrail around a platform would be at a height of 1100mm to the top of the top rail, a mid rail at approximately half that and a kick-plate or toe-plate of at least 150mm height above the floor. And yes, this is quite different to the requirements in WAH .... Mike

Posted By Alan Woodage Very simply the mezzanine floor is a permanent structure and if it is to be accessed for work purposes then it must comply with Part K of the building regulations and it would be my expectation to see a handrail at 1.1M including a midrail and a skirting / toe board of at least 150mm. Also this needs to be looked at with the consideration of the horizontal load to be applied and possiblity of vehicular loads,i.e trolleys or pallet trucks etc. Hope this helps
