Hi All,
We would like to purchase Green Hi visabilty vests for our first Aid employess. Someone has suggested that that colour would not be classed as hi vis vest.
Can anyone advised?
Thank you.

I think it's the strips of high visibility tape on clothing that makes it high viz?? Not necessarily the colour of garment.....please correct me if I'm wrong someone.

Hi Richard
It is assumed that the principal function of the PPE is to clearly identify a particular group of people [First-Aiders] so that they are readily discernible from the greatest distance under normal working conditions rather than to provide a warning of a problem such as people working in a potential traffic route, for instance.
It then depends on the environment in which you expect to use them Richard. For instance:- Railways - orange; high speed roads - saturn yellow with specific reflective patterns.
If it's for in-house; you decide! All it has to be is consistant and notified to all potential users of First aid. Seems like a good idea to me.

Not only green, but also have First Aid (and your company logo) on the back -
DON'T just have the company name, cos someone always thinks thats a good idea and you "looose" them pdq.

Dont paramedics have green overalls with hi-vis bands on them and don't they use them at the roadside in emergencies etc - presumably the main suppliers such as ARCO could advise the appropriate specification depending on speeds and other risk factors.
Alternatively go for usual hi-viz but green helmets with logo and white cross badge etc in usual way

Hi Richard,
There are some environments i.e. rail where green and red clothing and hi-vis vests would not be allowed as it may create confusion with traffic light colours.

If the normal colours are not suitable, you could try the
"Coloured waistcoat 2 band & braces NOT EN471, Velcro fastening, 5cm HI VIS reflective tape.
This is available on special order in the following high visibility colours: emerald green, lime green, bottle green, royal blue, navy, pale blue, hi-vis fluorescent red, standard red, hot pink, black, white.
Minimum order 20 vests."
If staff need to be identified at a distance, whether First Aid or Fire Wardens, then coloured headgear is more easily spotted in a crowd.
