Jai,
HAve you tried your local DOT goods vehicle testing station. I am presuming you wish to carry out live tests, if so there is a piece of Kit, Name escapes me, that you place in or on the vehicle in line with the wheel or track in your case, centre. This is basically a guage with a pendulumn and the braking action is recorded by the continuing forward motion of the pendulumn rotating the guage to leave a maximum braking effort. Basic stuff but about the only thing i have ever seen you could use on an excavator. Some MOT stations used them for odd vehicles that could not be tested by rollers, three wheelers, trikes etc.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi

The name of the equipment you are looking for is a decelerometer, all MOT test stations must have a calibrated one to use in the event of the roling road not working or as Alan stated for use with permanent four wheel drive vehicles, three weelers etc. The one that I have used in the past, you had to get up to a minimum speed (I think it was 30 mph) and then carry out an emergency stop, the decelerometer then held the brake test value to record.

thanks for the info guys

i personnaly would not like to drive one of my vehicles over 30mph on site

i am sure there is a system to use when the vehicle is not moving and the breaking response is measured
