Posted By Patrick Teyhan Colleagues, I am helping to co-ordinate an large(ish) public event at the weekend, where our staff and our contactors staff will be dealing with members of the public. The Liklihood of the event going off without a cross word is good but in the case that we have an abusive member of the public at our event, I believe it would be useful to have a "Warning" display board which says something along the lines of:- "(My employer) operate a Zero Tolerance to Physical and Verbal Abuse of its Staff All incidents will be reported, recorded & if necessary prosecuted. If you fail to comply you will be asked to leave the venue, failure to leave the venue upon request will neccesitate that the police being called". Does anyone have any standard (no doubt checked with legal and HRS and the like) wording for my poster Regards and anticipated thanks with your help Patrick

Posted By Brian McMahon Patrick A poster is about as much use as a chocolate teapot in such circumstances. Potential aggressors don't give a tinker's cuss. What if they‘re illiterate? Short-sighted? Can't read? To pi**ed!? By the time you've called the cops (if they're bothered to turn up!) damage could have been done. You'd be better advised having some trained stewards in place who can deal with any confrontational situations / emergency situations that might arise, or uniformed security guards on a low-key basis. I suggest that approach would send a better non-verbal 'message' than a poster, and act as a stronger deterrent. However, if you want a poster, I’ve seem some on the London Underground connected with staff protection, that might give you some thoughts for your own. If there's any free grub going, please let me know where the event is! Regards Brian
